Adrian Frutiger
Adrian Frutiger was responsible for creating and perfecting the font face Univers in the years 1957-1963 for the type founders Deberny & Peignot.
He applied specific mathematics to his design concerning the leading, kerning, line height, and overall font structure. Because of his preciseness, Univers started being used everywhere in the Swiss design and in fact evolved into a type family of 44 faces, 16 varied weights, width, and position arrangements. It made countless appearances in society up to the year 2003 and was famous world-wide because of its diverse advantage allowing it to be used for physique, print, and spectacle.
Univers is still used and remembered today by companies like Apple who used the typeface on their highly demanded products, such as their keyboards. Until 2003, it was internationally the most used sans serif.
